Your Customer’s Deck Shouldn’t Be Your Practice Deck
Watching a restoration video can introduce you to a technique. Working through the process with an instructor allows you to ask questions, examine the surface, and understand why each step matters.
That’s the experience behind the Wizard of Wood’s Exterior Wood Restoration Boot Camp, happening November 6–7, 2026, in Shamong, New Jersey.
Step onto the Training Deck
Our training deck provides a setting for hands-on learning with Everett Abrams, the Wizard of Wood.
Instead of trying to apply general advice to a customer’s property, you can explore restoration decisions with Everett there to explain what he’s looking for. Work directly with professional products and equipment, ask about challenges you’ve encountered, and build familiarity with the process.
Learn Why Each Step Matters
There isn’t one restoration method that fits every surface. Wood condition, species, and previous coatings influence what happens next.
During the two-day class, instruction and demonstrations will cover:
Assessing wood and determining restoration needs
Understanding when cleaning or stripping is appropriate
Recognizing sanding and surface-preparation requirements
Using brighteners, stains, and sealers appropriately
Choosing and working with products and equipment
Avoiding mistakes that can damage results or increase labor
The training applies to decks, fences, wood-sided homes, log cabins, and other exterior wood projects.
Connect Confidence with Preparation
Knowing what to look for helps you approach customer conversations and estimates with a clearer understanding of the work.
Alongside restoration techniques, Everett will cover estimating, pricing, and maintenance programs. You’ll learn how the process connects to running a profitable service.
Registration includes lunch both days, a FREE Exterior Wood Restoration Manual, professional company documents and logos, Wizard of Wood support, and an invitation to the private Wizard Nation Facebook group.
